More than just the Maasai and the Mara’s safari savannahs, Kenya is compelling nation of diverse cultures, unearthly Rift Valley landscapes and sultry Swahili shores.
Kenya straddles more than just equator. Its range of landscapes is truly staggering: from the north’s hostile deserts and Mt Kenya’s glaciated peaks to the dramatic depths of the Rift Valley and the sultry shores of the Indian Ocean and Lake Victoria. The diverse topography and consequent climatic conditions have endowed Kenya with an impressive array of flora and fauna. There are five UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in Kenya alone.
The Rift valley, with its spectacular serrated escarpments, volcanic landscapes, ochre soils, grassy plains and soda lakes, is undoubtedly one of the most stunning sights on the continent. And although it is 696 meters shorter tan Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya is easily East Africa’s most dramatic mountain, thanks to its voluptuous valleys, craggy cliffs and steep summits.
