Parc National de Sine Saloum is a wild region of mangrove swamps, lagoons, forests, dunes, and sand islands. Large mammals are rare, but there are monkeys and a wide variety of birds.
Saloum Delta National Park is located in the Saloum delta, 80 kilometers east of Kaolack. The scenery is characterized by tiny islands, sand dunes and marshes, providing an ideal environment for hundreds of bird species, including pelicans, storks and pink flamingos.
The environmental and economic significance of the Saloum Delta has led the state of Senegal and the international community to take steps to protect the bio-diversity of the place.
