The Hong Kong Museum of History, one of the newest and most impressive museums in the territory, does an exceptional job of retelling the story of Hong Kong. Visitors are guided through 6,000 years of history with imaginative use of ecological settings, panoramic screens, dioramas, and interactive programs.
Start your tour of the museum just inside the entrance with an overview in the Landform and Climate Gallery. Descend into the gallery via the escalator to a glove go the Earth held in a cradle of rock, featuring Hong Kong and the South Chine area.
Following on form this is the Prehistory area, whose exhibits nearly piece together archaeology and prehistory. Dioramas of archaeological digs and a 42-metre-long beach show reconstructions of a stilt-house, a site for making stone tools, a burial site, and a pottery-making site.
