The Belvedere, housing the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere museum, is a baroque palace complex built by Prince Eugene of Savoy in the south-east of the city centre of Vienna.

The Palaces and gardens have appreciating manicured grounds, the statuary, and the art of the Austrian Gallery . There is also the Orangery which is now home to the Museum of Austrian Medieval Art.

At the heart of the collections at the Belvedere are the works of Gustav Klimt with his golden paintings “The Kiss” and “Judith”. Masterworks of late Gothic art like the Znaim Altar, works by Michael Pacher, Rueland Frueauf the Elder and Conrad Laib are also on display here, along with excessive works of art dating from the baroque age. Important works by Johann Michael Rottmayr, Daniel Gran and Paul Troger give a charming insight into the wealth of these times.

There is the Prince Eugene’s apartments and staterooms in lower Belvedere. The feudal splendor of the palace’s aristocratic owner is reflected in the Hall of Grotesques, the Marble Gallery, and the Golden Room. Fascinating special exhibitions are staged in the Lower Belvedere and the Orangery.

The Audienzsaal (reception room), Spiegelkabinett (mirror cabinet), Kunstgalerie (arts gallery), Konferenzsaal (conference hall) and Kaffeezimmer (coffee room) can all be visited. The complex of the Upper Belvedere now houses one of Austria's most popular galleries (Galerie im Oberen Belvedere) with a huge collection of paintings by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka.
