Details / Stadtpfarrturm
Stadtpfarrturm, with an overall height of 94m, is the highest church steeple in Carinthia. It was famous even back in the Middle Ages, when an Italian chronicler found in 1486 that its architecture was unmatched even in Venice. Its present appearance and height dates back to 1847.
The lower part of the medieval steeple has been conserved up to the present day. It was renovated several times in the course of many centuries following a series of fires and damage due to earthquakes.
Today, the tower is owned by the parish of St. Jakob. It has been open to the public since 1993 and makes a magnificent viewpoint.
