![]() |
The Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art is housed in a rounded and peculiar chalk-white structure. It displays a rapidly growing collected works of Finnish and international contemporary art from the 1960s to the 1990s. The centre of attention is absolutely on the Finnish penchant for the offbeat. The cafe and beer terrace are also much admired in summer.
Leading Finnish artists in the permanent collection section include Jussi Nivi, Nina Roos, Susanne Gottberg, and the homoerotic illustrator Touko Laaksonen. Some of the international artists represented here are Cindy Sherman, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol and Nan Goldin.
In addition to its remarkable collection of visual fine art, the Kiasma frequently presents performance art, music, dance and films. Original and appealing, the Kiasma is not only a outstanding museum but also a laboratory for creative experimentation and expression.
