Toulouse is a city in southwest France on the banks of the Garonne River, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Being the fourth-largest metropolitan area after Paris, Marseille and Lyon in France and the fastest growing in Europe, Toulouse had 1,117,000 inhabitants in 2007.

With the headquarters of Airbus, Galileo positioning system, the SPOT satellite system, and CNES's Toulouse Space Center , the largest space center in Europe, Toulouse is one of the centers of the European aerospace industry. Thales Alenia Space, Europe's largest satellite manufacturer, and EADS Astrium Satellites, EADS's satellite system subsidiary, also have a important presence in Toulouse. Its world re-known university is one of the oldest in Europe founded in 1229 and, with more than 120,000 students, after Paris and Lyon, is the third largest university campus of France. Toulouse has also recently continued to lead the way in European high-technology manufacture, with infrastructure development ongoing, and the second metro line under construction.  

The Ville Rose ("Pink City") of France - Toulouse is the capital of good life, a city of students, and a center of cutting-edge European technology, located between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast, with a rich and diverse culture, taste for celebrations and fine food to attract a growing number of new inhabitants. 

The sights and religious buildings are mainly Capitole de Toulouse, Saint-Pierre bridge, Médiathèque José Cabanis, Musée Georges Labit, Musée des Augustins, Saint-Sernin Basilica, Notre-Dame du Taur church, Church of the Jacobins, Saint-Étienne cathedral, Daurade basilica, and Ursulines tower. Basilique St-Sernin is Europe's largest Romanesque church, built of brick, stone and tile from the 11th to the 13th century. Cathédrale St-Étienne was built over the course of five centuries, this church's combination of various styles make it a particularly original building. Jacobin Convent is a excellent complex of monastic building is a jewel of Languedoc Gothic, built entirely of brick in the 13th and 14th centuries. Musée des Augustins houses an outstanding collection of 12th-century Romanesque sculpture, a superb collection of paintings ranging from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. Le Capitole was built in the 18th century, the Capitole housing the City Hall and a Theatre.
