The Villa Hügel is the one of the most important sightseeings of the city Essen. The construction of this chateau began in year 1868 and took 4 years to 1872. The Villa was built as a guest house and was designed by Alfred Krupp. It has a park and forest which covers an area of 75 ha. The villa used to be the residence of the Krupp family until 1945.
Since 1953 the Villa Hügel serves as a exhibition and concert center in Essen. In the main residence you can find many valuable artworks. There are many exhibitions that you can visit. You can also visit the park from 8:00 to 20:00 daily. There are guided long and short tours in German, English, French, Russian, Dutch which you must book at least 10 days before.
You can visit Villa Hügel and Park for 3 Euros. The short tours cost about 50 Euros and long tours cost 60 Euros.
