Located on the south of the Germany Göttingen is a little city with a population of 130,000. The city is well known for the Georg August University Göttingen. The Göttingen is considerable as a university town as 25 percent of the population are the students.
How to go?
Göttingen has no airport but you can use car, train or bus to reach here. The Göttingen's central station is a stop on ICE line, Inter City Express. So it would be no problem to go to Göttingen.
What to see?
As in many other German cities you should visit the old Town Hall, "Altes Rathaus" in German. The old town house was built between the years 1369 and 1444. Since 1978 it was the town hall but now it has been the tourist office. You can also visit the Goose Girl fountain, Gänseliesel in German. The city also has 4 churches you can visit; Johanniskirche, Albanikirche, St. Micheal Kirche and Marienkirche. In addition to these you can aso visit the Georg August University. There are also some gardens you can visit too.
Where to stay?
There are many hotels in the city of Göttingen. You can also find some budget hotels like Jugendherberge which is a twenty minute walk away from the center. You can stay here for about 20 euros overnight.
