Details / Argos

The town of Argos is at a crossroads, where the Nafplion-Athens roads meet, and is a changing place for those traveling by bus.
The archaeological Museum, close to the main square, has finds form both Mycenae and Tiryns. The best of these are now in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, but Argos can boast a bronze helmet and breastplate that date to Mycenaean times and excellent collections from the later Roman period.
The importance of Argos in historic times can be seen at the site of Ancient Argos, which is only a short walk from the centre of town along the road that leads to Tripoli: the principal attraction is the theatre, which is bigger than Epidavros and one of the largest in Greece.
