The beach resort of Parga is one of the most attractive and popular along the Ionina coast. There are several good beached both in and near the town, a choice of excellent fish restaurants, and easy access to Dodoni, Ioanina, and even Zagorian villages and the Vikos Gorge. It is possible to get ferries to the island of Paxi, which in turn gives access to Corfu.

For all its appearance as a simple resort town Parga has had a fascinating history. At one end of the harbour, lined by restaurants and souvenir shops, is an imposing Venetian fortress built in 1624, as a date over one of the gates indicates.

Beyond the headland is one of the town’s best beaches, a long sandy stretch, and thee are several more to the north and south of the centre.
