Paxi is a contrast to bigger and busier neighbour to the north. The visitors attracted to Paxi are those who like somewhere quieter, more laid-back, and more directly in touch with its own traditions than hectic Corfu. The symbol of Paxi is trident; which is a nod toward one story of how it came into existence.

Only limited accommodations are available, most reserved for the summer months by British and German tour companies.

At the far north of the island is the delightful Lakka, with a large harbour surrounded by tree covered hill, several stores and more fine restaurants, two town beaches, and more beaches along the coast offering sunbathing, swimming, and water sports.
