Details / Macedonia

Macedonia is the country’s largest administrative district and it has much to offer the visitor including Greece’s second largest city, Thessaloniki. This lively waterfront city has a wealth of history only rivalled by Athens.
The west of Macedonia is a remote and rugged region bordered by the Pindos Mountains, where wolves and bears still roam the forests. Historic highlights include sites such as ancient Pella, which has some outstanding mosaics.
Although relations with Turkey have improved in recent years, the border is still a sensitive area so take not to wander too far off the beaten track.
