Kolcsey Convention Centre, Debrecen is the 2nd bigest conference centre in Hungary with 13,000 m2 area. It is one of the most suitable places for an international conference as well as for a cultural event of any kind. A complex where the individual spaces may be connected or separated at will, while the wide variety of halls of various sizes would satisfy any and all technical demands whatsoever.

The designer’s dream became reality in February 2006, when the construction of the new Kölcsey Convention Center was finally completed, located exactly at the site where once stood the house of the author of the Hungarian national anthem, Ferenc Kölcsey.

In the centre, a perfect venue for any kind of lecture, performance, ball, reception, or exhibition is offered by the Grand Hall, the individual Section halls, the elegant Ballroom, even the Exhibition Hall, together with the light Entrance Hall and the corridors. A better location for a convention or a conference either could hardly find.

There is the ubiquitous presence of glass, wood, and stones, which creates a genuine Scandinavian atmosphere upon entering the building of the center. The ample wood paneling, made of birch, maple and okoumé, radiates a feeling of cleanliness, warmth, and friendliness, While the enormous sized windows let the sunlight freely flow in from outside.

Renowned artists in concert as András Schiff, Jan Garbarek, Chick Corea, Andrea Rost, or Cesaria Evora has been featured by the Grand Hall. The Exhibition Hall has already been home for several grand-scale exhibitions of the works of a variety of artists, including János Lestyán Goda, Sándor Győrfi, János Kass, Endre Szász, and Árpád Bényi, as well as for the traveling exhibition of the 100-year-old Museum of Fine Arts, called Rejtett Szépségek, and the Press Photo Exhibition.
