The Votive Church of Hungary is a twin-spired church in Szeged. The Votive Church, Szeged is a splendid cathedral in the town of Szeged. This church is the symbol of Szeged's post-flood revitalization. The church, with its two tall, slender clock towers, was built in 1912. Its elaborately painted neo-Renaissance interior suggests a much older structure.
It is the fourth largest church in Hungary. The dome of the church is 54m outside and the towers are both 91m high. The "Heroes' bell" in the tower on the Tisza side weighs 8600kg.
The visitors can find a very interesting representation of the Madonna in side the Votive Church in Szeged. This representation is done in mosaic just over the baldachin on the big altar, by Ferenc Márton. This is referred to as the "Madonna in a fur coat" . This is because here the Madonna is depicted as wearing a beautifully decorated fur coat. There is also a very noteworthy crucifix on the side altar and it is done by János Fadrusz. The visit to this place will always be remembered by the tourists coming here. This cathedral is also very popular among the local people as well.
Being a very beautiful spot in Szeged, it is visited by lots of visitors almost round the year.
