The Van Gogh Museum is in the Amsterdam's Old South(Oud Zuid). The building was designed by Gerrit Rietveld and opened in 1973, finally completed in 1999. It has the largest collection of the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh's paintings and drawings in the world. It gives the facility to compare Van Gogh's paintings and works by other artists from the 19th century. The museum also contains an important, massive offer of exhibitions on various subjects from 19th century art history.

The museum offers enough information about the museum and art collection via enourmous media and channels. They can be found Dutch and English hall texts and labels in many places. Story of Van Gogh's life is given with a leaflet in eight language from the information desk.  

In the neighbourhood of the museum, there are restaurants, fashionable shopping streets, Rijksmuseum, the Concertgebouw, Stedelijk Museum, and the Filmmuseum.
