Groningen
Groningen is the one of province at northeastern of Netherlands with 180.000 inhabitans. The proince is bordered by German, Drenthe, Friesland and Wadden Sea. Its capital's name is also Groningen. Groningen is a relatively undiscovered and unspoiled part of the Netherlands.
The flag of the province is oblong, and its depth is two-thirds of its width. The flag is divided by a white vertical cross, on which a green cross is superimposed. The top left and bottom right areas are red and the other two blue. The colours of the flag are made up of those of the provincial coat of arms: white and green from the arms of the city and red and blue from the arms of the Ommelanden. The green cross symbolises the central position of Groningen city.
Municipalities of the province are Appingedam, Bedum, Bellinwedde, De Marne, Delfzjil, Eemsmond, Groningen, Grootegast, Haren, Hoogezand-Sappemeer, Leek, Loppersum, Marum, Menterwolde, Pekela, Reiderland, Scheemda, Slochteren, Stadskanaal, Ten Boer, Veendam, Vlagtwedde, Winschoten, Winsum, and Zuidhorn.
The most crowded city of the province is capital Groningen. Hoogezand-Sappemeer and Stadskanaal follows it. Care, Trade, and Industry are the main business areas for the province. Natural gas exraction&distribution, sugar, starch/starch derivatives, paper&board paper-goods, basic chemicals, basic metals, shipbuilding are the most important branches of industry. Additionally, the province has two sugar factories.
Groningen is full of little pearls - medieval churches, yeoman's mansions and historic old knolls which protected people against the water. The province has very good museums, and historical places. Groninger Museum is the most important and famous one, also there are a science museum, a comics museum, and a tobacco museum.
