Zeeland
Zeeland is the one of twelve province of the Netherlands. The province is located in the southwest of the country, and Middelburg is its capital. The province is bounded by North Sea, Zuil Holland, North Brabant, and Belgium from east to south in the direction of clockwise. The area of the province consists more than 293.000 areas that encloses land and water. Moreover, it includes islands of Schouwen, Duiveland, Tholen, Noord-Beveland and Sint Philipsland. One-third of Zeeland area is covered by water. The province has one of the smallest population of the Dutch provinces.
Large parts of Zeeland are below or about sea level. The importance of the sea for the province is clearly expressed with its name: Zee-land, which means "sea-land". Naturally, the province has amazing long sandy beaches with provincal sea resorts like tiny Zoutelande, snobby Domburg, and modern Cadzand. Every year, many tourists visit the city for this reason, especially in summertime. Historical small towns are protected by the water from mainland.
Zeeland has a few industries and no large towns. Middelburg and Vlissingen are the most important cities of the province. The other cities of the province are Borsele, Goes, Hulst, Kapelle, Noord-Beveland, Oostburg, Reimerswaal, Schouwen-Duiveland, Sluis, Temeuzen, Tholen, and Veere. Zeeland is remarkable for its spectacular architecture and plenty of heritage sites and monuments.
