Bannockburn Heritage Centre, opened in 1987, the Bannockburn Heritage Centre documents Scottish history from the Wars of Independence to the Union with England at the beginning of the 17th C.
Having figures of Wallace and Bruce, a large model of the Battle of Stirling Bridge and an audio visual presentation which tells the story of Bruce and the battle, the center displays boards and photographs about recent investigations to find the actual site of the battle. Models include knights from William Wallace's entourage and a statue of the victorious king Robert I on his throne and information is also available on the "Lords of the Isles", those clans who once controlled the west of Scotland from Glenelg to the Mull of Kintyre.
The exhibition brings the Wars of Independence to life in the Visitor Centre. There are scenes of the coronation of Robert the Bruce and the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath. There is a bronze statue of Bruce on his war horse by the commemorative Rotunda outside.
