The Historic Menstrie Castle, set in the magnificent village of Menstrie, Clackmannanshire, near Stirling, Scotland is 400 years old. Menstrie Castle, built in the foothills of the stunning Ochils, is centrally situated between Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, and Loch Lomond.
Menstrie Castle is steeped in history as it was once home to Sir William Alexander, the 1st Earl of Stirling in the early 1600s, who was instrumental in founding the colony of Nova Scotia. It was later owned by the Holburn Holborne family, who were created Baronets of Menstrie in 1706. The castle was restored in the 20th century, and now incorporates holiday accommodation, private flats.
There is a museum and shop in part of the ground floor in the castle run by the National Trust for Scotland. Many perfect attractions including lochs, castles, mountain and glen are in the surrounding area.
