Details / Museo Lazaro Galdiano
The grand home of publisher and businessman Jose Lazaro Galdiano houses his impressive collection of Spanish and European paintings, which includes important works by Goya. The extensive exhibits also contain sculpture, jewellery, miniatures, ceramics, enamels, and weaponry.
The displays are arranged over all four floors of the mansion, which is itself of considerable interest, particularly the piano nobile on the second floor. The many notable exhibits include a bronze pitcher from the sixth century B.C. and the late seventeenth century cup of Emperor Rudolph II.
Second floor is devoted to European art, with Italian, Flemish, Dutch, French, and English paintings. In this rich collection, of particular interest is El Salvador Adoloncente, a panel attributed to Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, a disciple of Leonardo.
