Details / The Royal Botanical Gardens
The Royal Botanical Gardens are a rare sight for the lover of flowers and gardens and greenery. They are formal gardens, meticulously planned and maintained . the cisitor centre will give you a map of the lay-out, and additional information- you will find enough at the gardens to keep you occupied for a morning or an afternoon.
The gardens are set on an 800 hectare tract of land with boundaries in Hamilton and Burlington and in Dundas and Flamborough too. As well as a showcase for nature’s botanical wonders, it is a wildlife sanctuary. The highlights are the Rock Gardens, the popular Tea House, the Lilac Arboretum, the sugaring-off festival in early spring, the Rose Garden, which has about 5,000 bushes of roses, and the Spring Garden with its large and lush display of irises.
There are several refreshment areas and picnic facilities too. A floral art shop in the visitor centre displays a wealth of dried flower arrangements, gifts and flower-arranging accoutrements.
