Details / Bay du Nord Wilderness Reserve
Newfoundland’s last major unspoiled area, Bay du Nord Wilderness Reserve occupies rugged countryside pierced by wild rivers and coniferous forests stretch in every direction from the rock drumlin formation of 1,234 foot Mount Sylvester, the highest point in the park.
Anglers will find the lakes, ponds, and rivers of the reserve full of fish, including salmon and rook trout. There are no marked trails in the wilderness, but anglers’ trails that fan out from Smokey Falls and from the former village of Bay du Nord itself provide access to the wilderness. No designated campsites exist, but dozens of spots along the river are ideal.
