Details / Soper River
Meandering form its headwaters on the Meta Incognita Peninsula of southern Baffin Island to Soper Lake 60 miles away, the Soper River – a Canadian heritage river – weaves a ribbon of green through a land that is bleak and brown. Located within Katannilik Territorial Park, it offers a 30-mile stretch of navigable water – a rarity for rivers in the Arctic islands.
In winter, the valley takes on an entirely different but no less breathtaking look. Though days are short and quiet cold, you can ski-tour up the snowy valley or hire a dogsled to skim across the icy landscape.
