Details / Finlayson Point Provincial Park
Finlayson Point is a boater’s dream come true: a campground with easy dockage and deep water on one of Northern Ontario’s largest and prettiest lakes. Although this is a postage-stamp park it provides access to a huge expanse of wild country.
Lake Temagami is big water in this region of countless tiny lakes, and the lake is wonderful for exploration by boat or canoe because of its irregular shoreline and countless islands. Nearby hiking trails take you through the region’s famous old-growth forest or to a forest fire tower.
Temagami is increasingly well known as the home of the White Bear Forest, a protected area o red and white pine forest with trees 150 to 3450 years in age. The trees are not only huge, but have a stately beauty owing to their size and remarkably straight trunks. Hiking trails criss-cross the forest, and excellent canoeing opportunities exist on adjacent lakes.
