Details / Orangeville
Because Orangeville nestles in the beauty of Caledon Hills, it is a favourite fall spot for Torontonians who don’t want to stray too far from home but are anxious for another reminder of Ontario’s glorious autumn. The Pine River and Hockley Valleys are high on the list for view-seekers. The many conservation and park areas in the Orangeville area also draw their share of summer and winter visitors.
Antique and craft shops are plentiful in the area. Nature lovers should explore the Orangeville Reservoir Conservation Area – a large park with a man-made lake perfect for watching water fowl, hiking and cross-country skiing; the Monora Conservation Area where you can also camp; the fabulous Hockley Valley – a favourite with artists and cross-country skiers and a spectacular landscape in the fall; and the Pine River Provincial Fishing Area, spilling over with brook and rainbow trout.
