Details / Lac La Ronge Provincial Park
![]() |
Lac La Ronge Provincial Park lies in northern Saskatchewan. Residents of the area continually fight the image that Saskatchewan is nothing but wheat fields. That is south, they are quick to note, the prairie. Up north, in places such as this park, it is different world of lakes, boreal forest, and the rugged granite of the Canadian Shield.
Water defines the park, as its name suggests. The lake is enormous, covering hundreds of square miles and containing se 1,300 islands. More than 100 smaller lakes hydrate the area, and the Churchill River marks the park’s northern boundary. The largest provincial park in Saskatchewan, Lac La Ronge offers a wide variety of wildlife and habitats.
Like other arks in the area, Lac La Ronge can be explored via hiking trails or waterways. Whichever way you decide to go, stop at the Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management office in the town of La Ronge or at the tourism booth along Highway 2 in Air Ronge.
