Details / Harbourfront
Toronto’s waterfront is a bit of a city unto itself, complete with some office space and condos, a couple of hotels, a few restaurants, piers and quays for outdoor strolling, shops and markets for indoor strolling, and a sense of separation from the rest of the city, with its natural boundary – Lake Ontario – and its wholly unnatural boundary.
One of the best reasons to visit the Harbourfront is to hop on one of the city’s ferries to the Toronto Islands, where you can walk or bike along tree-lined paths, enjoy the pint-sized thrills of the Centreville Amusement Park, or sunbathe on the islands’ southern beaches with a cool drink by your side.
The Harbourfront Centre includes the Power Plant gallery, displaying contemporary Canadian and international works; the Harbourfront Centre Theatre; and the York Quay Centre, with a collection of exhibition and performance spaces.
