Details / Royal Ontario Museum
The Royal Ontario Museum is Toronto’s premier museum, devoted to Canadian and International culture, heritage, and natural history. The museum boasts Canada’s largest collection of museum items – more than 5 million. The museum is located in a prime location in the ritzy BloorYorkville neighbourhood, just across Bloor Street from the Park Hyatt Hotel.
The international reputation of the Royal Ontario Museum is enhanced by its diverse Asian collections. The H.H. Levy Gallery displays textiles, paintings, and wood prints from East Asia, and the Christopher Ondaatje South Asian Gallery has a twofold focus: the history and geology of the region in the Moments of Time hall; and the Personal Adornment hall, which displays objects of dress and accessories with commentary on their meaning within their contextual culture.
Hands-on Biodiversity is an interactive permanent gallery that focuses on non-human diversity, that is, the interrelational workings of plants and animals. In this gallery, there is a working beehive and a living stream stocked with fish and life native to Ontario.
