The island beauty of the Comarca de Kuna Yala, which comprises the Archipielago de San Blas along Panama’s Caribbean coast, is exceeded only by that of Kuna Indian women and children exotically clad in traditional, brightly coloured attire.
The beautiful Archipielago de San Blas is a sea girt wilderness of sandy coral islands, sun-bleached jewels in a sapphire sea, which stretches for almost 226 kilometres along Panama’s Caribbean coast. The island’s prime colours seem to pulsate in the dazzling Caribbean light.
The narrow mainland coastal strip is farmed with coconut palms and provides a hunting and agricultural ground for Kuna, who conscientiously preserve the virgin forests that shawl the Serrania de San Blas and Serrania del Darien mountains inland.
