Details / Griffith Park and Vicinity
Los Angeles is modest about Griffith Park, the largest city park in the USA Los Feliz and Silver Lake district are home to some fine architecture, while on Mount Washington are the Southwest Museum’s displays of Native American culture.
Only a top-of-the-line asphalt jungle such as Los Angeles could horde a gem like Griffith Park, a 4100-acre parcel filled wit rolling parklands, urban wilderness, remote trails, scenic views, and a dizzying assortment of diverse amusements. From the bottom of its fern glades to the peak of Mount Hollywood, the park offers something for everyone, even if just a few stolen moments away from the madding crowds.
Situated at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, Griffith Park was originally part of the Rancho Los Feliz Spanish Land Grant. When Welsh immigrant and mining millionaire Griffith J. Griffith donated the land to the city in1896, there was not even access to the area.
