Details / Hollywood Walk of Fame
![]() |
This is a town where people look down, instead of up, to see stars. The Walk of Fame constellation features more than 2,500 stars embedded along Hollywood Boulevard between La Brea Avenue and Gower Street, with some spilling on to Vine Street between Yucca Street and Sunset Boulevard.
Although the Walk of Fame was the brainchild of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay tribute to entertainment industry artists, it is usually the celebrity’s entertainment company who ends up paying some 15,000 dollars a pop for the privilege of being enshrined in the street.
The eight original stars, unveiled in 1960, can be seen at the northwest corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. These are Olive Borden, Ronald Colman, Louise Fazenda, Preston Foster, Burt Lancaster, Edward Sedgwick, Ernest Torrence, and Joanne Woodward.
