At War in the Pacific National Historical Park the past battlefields, gun emplacements, trenches, and significant structures all serve as silent reminders of the bloody World War II battles that ensued on Guam. Although the park is recognized for its historical resources, the hot climate, sandy beaches, and turquoise waters beckon visitors and inhabitants to take pleasure in the island's natural resources.
This exclusive National Park is the only place in the National Park System that honours the courage and sacrifices of all those who participated in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. This includes the United States, Japan, and the Allied nations.
Over 3,500 oceanic species and 200 species of coral are situated within the scuba and snorkelling areas of park waters. As participants in a countrywide coral reef monitoring program, the park is devoted to long-term monitoring of Guam's coral reefs, and is committed to completing comprehensive inventories of the park's wildlife and flora.
