Details / Foster Botanical Garden
Foster Botanical Garden is a great place for a stroll. The garden took root when William Hillebrand, a German botanist and Queen Kalama’s head doctor, planted rare Hawaiian and tropical trees here in 1850.
It has some extremely rare trees, a large collection of palms, but very few flowers, except for the section devoted to orchids. Guided tours are organized from Monday to Friday at 1 pm. Unfortunately, the garden is located near the freeway, which takes away from the serenity of the site. At the entrance is a small exhibit that displays a variety of the unusually shaped seeds of species featured in the garden.
