Details / Hawaii Nature Centre
The centre provides information about the environment, but also has a small museum with interactive exhibits intended to sensitize the public, both young and old, to the islands’ ecology. The exhibits discuss topics such as the colonization of local plants and animals, the importance of maintaining biodiversity and the risk posed by introducing new species of plants, all presented in an engaging manner.
Visitors can listen to the call of local birds or even become a dragonfly in the flight simulator. The centre also organizes guided rainforest walks along to Iao River.
Some 800 metre past the museum is a sign on the right-hand side of the road marking the place that was once known as the JFK Profile.
