Details / Sea Life Park
This undeniably popular tourist attraction is beginning to show its age. The spiral ramp around the large aquarium is particularly well conceived, but the predictable dolphin and sea lion shows hold much greater appeal for children than adults. Kids are given lettuce to feed the green turtles, which live in groups of 20 in crammed tanks.
There is only one activity every half an hour. The park’s mascot, Kekaimalu, the world’s first cross between a killer whale and a tursiops dolphin, aptly called a wholphin.
Hawaii State Seabird Sanctuary
All of the islets and islands off Oahu’s windward coast are protected by the Hawaii State Seabird Sanctuary. These eroded rocks are vestiges of cliffs that were once part of the coast, remnants of ancient eruptions or pieces of coral from the reef.
