Details / Liberty Park
Liberty Park is one of the oldest recreation areas in Salt Lake City. The venerable green space, four blocks long and two blocks wide, has served as a gathering place since Isaac Chase built a mill here in 1852. A small amusement park, a modern children’s playground, and landscaped gardens stand between the mill and Chase’s yellow adobe brick home. The house exhibits contemporary works by Utah artists.
For the most part, Liberty Park serves as a quiet, shaded retreat for city dwellers who come o stroll through the manicured grounds or paddle canoes on the boating pond. The park is also the site of community fairs, horseshoe contests, and road races.
In Tracy Aviary, you can watch golden and bald eagles, flamingos, peacocks, and hundreds of other unusual birds. In the summer, the aviary hosts a bird show and a lorry walk.
