Del Mar has long been one of the nation’s leading racing venues. For more than a decade, it has topped the States in daily average attendance; it also consistently ranks among the top three in daily average handle.

Several of the great moments of twentieth century Thoroughbred history occurred here, such as the 1938 match race between legendary Seabiscuit and Argentine champion Ligaroti, which the Biscuit won by a nose.

The annual San Diego County Fair takes place in late June and early July, when the racetrack, stables, and parking lots are transformed onto one of California’s biggest summer fun zones.
