Details / Historical Society Museum
Though the San Diego Historical Society dates back to 1928, it did not realize its dream of setting up this museum until 1989. The first-floor exhibits focus on all facets of San Diego history, particularly the period after the Mexican-American War when California became the 31st state.
Recent exhibits have included “now and then’ photography, costume displays, and chronicles on the city’s architectural history. Them museum’s 100-seat theatre hosts public lectures, educational programs, and workshops. Research archives housed in the basement comprise books, biographies, maps sketches, manuscripts, and a massive collection of historic photos.
