Details / Torrey Pines State Reserve
A wild piece of California Coast that sprawls across beaches, bluffs, and canyons between La Jolla and Del Mar, Torrey Pines State Reserve is San Diego’s own national park.
The 2,500 acre park was established to protect on of the world’s rarest trees, the gnarly Torrey pine, which grow only on the coastal bluffs of this area and on Santa Rosa Island off Santa Barbara.
Among the ecosystems found within the park boundaries are beach, salt marsh, sea cliffs, coastal chaparral, and pine forest. Native animal species that thrive here include large creatures such as mule deer, coyotes, and bobcats.
