The Wild Animal Park is a zoo in the San Pasqual Valley area of the city of San Diego. It is one of the major tourist destinations in the city. The Park houses wild and endangered animals including species from Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, and North and South America. The park is in a semi arid environment and one of its most notable features is the Journey into Africa tram which explores the expansive African exhibits. These free-range enclosures house such animals as Przewalski's horses, lions, cheetahs, elephants, antelopes, giraffes, zebras, okapis, bonobos and rhinos. The park is also noted for its facility, California condor which has a breeding program, the most successful program in the country.
The Park is visited by 2 million people annually and has an area of 7 sq km. The park houses over 3500 animals of more than 260 species and more than 3,500 species of unique plants in its botanical garden.
