Details / Browns Park
Brown’s Park is a remote valley lying across the Utah-Colorado border, just below the Wyoming Boundry. It received its name from Baptiste Brown, an earl fur trader. Only one paved road leads into this area, from Maybell Colorado, but there are several dirt roads.
John Jarvie Ranch Historic Site is a point of historical interest. Today, ranch consists of a dugout that was Jarvie’s original house on the property and a stone house built for Jarvie in 1888 by John Bennett, a member of the Wild Bunch gang who was later hanged by vigilantes for is part in a local murder. The general store is a replica of the original. Guided tours are available from May through October, and visitors can take a self-guided tour year-round.
