Details / Tandayapa Bird Lodge
The lodge development began in 1999 when it became obvious that there was no lodge intended for birdwatchers on the west slope of the Ecuadorian Andes. Rather than devastating more forest it was decided to make in field on a steep ridge, 70 metres from the forest border.
As you first arrive at Tandayapa you will be astonished by the number of hummingbirds buzzing around the feeders, numbering over 10 different species. This place is constructed by birders for birders. Meals can be arranged to fit with your bird-watching times and there are birds everywhere.
Staff is incredibly friendly, rooms are good quality, though not luxurious and the same goes for the foodstuff. If you are not into bird watching you might still take pleasure in a short stay in Tandayapa, just to enjoy the peace while watching the exotic birds.
